Rachel peers: Freelance illustrator / founder
Welcome to Don Design Group! My name is Rachel and I'm a 30-something fun-loving queer creative.

Drawing has always been my passion since I was old enough to hold a pencil in my hand. I remember saying to my teacher in Year 1 that ‘I want to be an artist when I grow up’. Now in my 30s, I’m not exactly sure I’ve grown up but I’ve finally taken the leap to turn my childhood dream into a reality by becoming a full-time illustrator working freelance on exciting projects whilst selling my own unique designs on prints, gifts and homeware.
I’ve always loved putting my photographic memory to use by bringing characters to life through my illustrations. I love creating art that people can relate to, whether it reminds them of a person, a memory or a feeling. You will notice my inspiration is driven by pop culture, touching on important themes like feminism, equality and diversity with a sprinkling of 90s/00s nostalgia (as you can see from the photo I'm a 90s kid at heart).
My late dad, Donald Peers, was always a big fan of my illustration work and would pin my drawings up on his bedroom wall with pride. Sadly, he passed away when I was 19 so did not see me graduate with my First-Class Degree in Design/Illustration which would have made him extremely proud. I decided to name my illustration business, Don Design Group, after him so that I can still carry him along with me on this journey.
I hope to bring joy to as many people as possible through my designs and would love to see my illustrations displayed on bedroom walls, living room walls, or any walls in fact. Along with unique illustrated prints, I’ll also be creating hand-drawn greetings cards and other gifts including homeware.
I am looking to partner with fabulous people and organisations who are looking to commission an illustrator on a freelance basis to compliment their brand vision.
